Dozens of migrants arrive on Spain's southeastern coast
Footage circulating on social media shows dozens of migrants disembarking from a small boat on Spain’s southeastern coast near the province of Almería. The video, posted on several platforms early Tuesday, depicts the migrants stepping onto the shore while local residents watch from a distance. Spanish authorities confirmed that the vessel was intercepted by the Civil Guard’s maritime unit, which coordinated the safe transfer of the individuals to a nearby reception centre.
The Coast Guard reported that the boat, estimated to be carrying between 30 and 40 people, originated from the North African coast, a common departure point for irregular migration into Europe. Officials said that medical checks and initial processing were underway, and that the migrants would be handed over to the Ministry of the Interior for further assessment under Spain’s asylum and migration protocols. The incident underscores the continued pressure on Spain’s southern maritime borders as part of broader migration flows across the Mediterranean.
