Gaza Holds Funeral for 50 Palestinians Recovered from Rubble
A funeral service was held in Gaza City on Tuesday for 50 Palestinian civilians whose bodies were recovered from collapsed buildings after the latest escalation of fighting. The victims, all residents of the densely populated southern district, were identified by local authorities and relatives before the burial. The ceremony, attended by family members, community leaders and representatives of the Palestinian Ministry of Health, took place at the Al‑Quds cemetery under the supervision of security officials.
The bodies were retrieved from rubble left by recent airstrikes and artillery fire that intensified after the Israeli military launched a new offensive in the region. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the 50 deaths bring the total number of civilian casualties in the current conflict to more than 2,000, with thousands more injured. The recovery operation was carried out by a joint team of health workers and engineering units, who used specialized equipment to carefully extract remains from collapsed structures.
The funeral underscores the mounting toll of the conflict on Gaza’s civilian population. Officials have called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of life, while international organizations have urged both sides to adhere to humanitarian law. The burial of the 50 victims marks another somber milestone in a conflict that has already claimed thousands of lives on both sides.
