Genki Unveils Manta Controller with Large Screen and Customizable Buttons
Genki has unveiled its first controller designed entirely in-house, the Manta, after a two‑year collaboration with 8BitDo. The device departs from conventional layouts by placing thumbsticks and buttons above a sizable 2.9‑inch LCD screen, giving it a noticeably bulkier silhouette than most contemporary gamepads. The screen, coupled with on‑board controls, allows users to tweak a wide range of settings—ranging from stick sensitivity to button mapping—directly from the controller, providing a level of customizability that Genki says is unmatched in the market.
The Manta is launching today through a Kickstarter campaign, with early backers able to pre‑order the unit. Genki emphasizes that the controller’s design is meant to accommodate a variety of play styles, offering adjustable configurations that can be tailored to each player’s preferences. The company’s move signals a push toward more personalized gaming peripherals, positioning the Manta as a potential alternative for enthusiasts seeking deeper control over their hardware.
