Imran Khan's Sister Reports Jail Torture Claims

Sister of former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan has alleged that he was subjected to torture while incarcerated. In a statement released to the press, she said Khan confided in her that he was being physically abused by jail staff during his detention.

Khan was arrested in July 2023 on corruption charges and held at Karachi Central Jail. According to the sister, the alleged mistreatment included beatings and other forms of physical coercion. Pakistani authorities have denied any wrongdoing, asserting that the former leader was treated in accordance with the law and that the allegations are unsubstantiated.

The claims add to growing concerns about the treatment of political detainees in Pakistan.
