Kim Jong Un’s sister ‘unaware’ of talks between US, North Korea
North Korean state media released a message on Wednesday from Kim Yo Jong, the country’s top adviser and sister of Leader Kim Jong Un, in which she denied any knowledge of talks between Kim and former U.S. President Donald Trump. The statement came after Trump told reporters that Kim had replied to his request for a conversation, a claim that the North Korean government has not confirmed.
In her brief note, Kim Yo Jong said that she was unaware of any such discussions and that the leadership had not authorized any direct contact with the former president. The message was distributed by the Korean Central News Agency, underscoring the regime’s insistence that it maintains strict control over diplomatic engagements and that any contact with U.S. officials is carefully vetted.
The denial follows a series of high‑profile exchanges between the two leaders, including a historic summit in 2018 and subsequent attempts at dialogue. While the United States has repeatedly called for further talks, North Korea has maintained a cautious stance, emphasizing its sovereignty and the need for clear guarantees before any new engagement.
