Yemen conflict intensifies as government forces and Houthis exchange attacks
Government forces in Yemen reported conducting 81 separate attacks over the past 24 hours, targeting Houthi‑controlled positions across the conflict‑affected regions. The operations, carried out by the Saudi‑backed coalition, involved airstrikes, artillery fire and ground assaults aimed at disrupting rebel supply lines and command centres. The coalition spokesperson confirmed that the strikes hit multiple sites in the Saada, Marib and Al Jawf governorates, though casualty figures have not yet been released.
In a separate statement, Yemen’s Houthi movement said it successfully struck two Saudi Arabian targets, claiming to have hit a military installation in the southern Red Sea region and a logistical hub near the Saudi‑Yemeni border. The Houthis did not provide independent verification of the attacks, and Saudi defence officials have not commented on the alleged incidents. Both sides continue to exchange fire, maintaining a high level of hostilities that has persisted since the escalation of the civil war in 2015.
